We definitely should go for a bike ride. With kids. Through MY NEIGHBORHOOD!!! (I'm hoping to get some credit for organizing 2 full years of rides before routing one through my own neighborhood).

This Saturday (moved from Sunday because it's just supposed to be beautiful), Kidical Mass Arlington will meet at 4:30pm at Maywood Park. (http://kidicalmassarl.blogspot.com/2015/04/kidically-spring-this-saturday-april-18.html) You'll get to ride through some historic (and frankly, gorgeous) neighborhoods in Arlington, ride on a flat part of the Custis, stop at a very cool park (Hayes Park), and explore a secret-ish trail (Thrifton Hills). And the cool kids will stay after for dinner at Lyon Village Shopping Center.

Come one, come all! All are welcome!

Kidically SPRING this SATURDAY, April 18 4:30pm Maywood Park [NOTE DATE CHANGE}
It's Spring! It's Spring! Time to ditch those winter coats, those dark, dark mornings, those heavy gloves. And it's time to ride bikes.

The weather has been gorgeous, and this Saturday promises to continue the trend. Kidical Mass Arlington will take the opportunity to venture through two new (to us) historic neighborhoods: Maywood and Cherrydale! We'll meet at Maywood Park, and ride around one of Arlington's few historic districts - Maywood. We'll cruise down to the Custis Trail (one of the few flat sections) and over to Hayes Park. After a short break to enjoy the park, we'll hop back on the bikes, and circle through Cherrydale, back through Maywood, and back to a little hidden trail through Thrifton Hills Park. Those that wish can join us at the Lyon Village shopping center for dinner (probably at BGR).

The route is on the short side, but has some notable downhill stretches -- please double check your brakes! The route back from the shopping center to the park is short but straight uphill.

When: Saturday, April 18, 2015 4:30pm (roll out 4:35pm - come early to play!)

Meet: Maywood Park -- 22nd Street North between Irving and Kenmore, Arlington

Parking: On the surrounding residential streets.

End: Lyon Village Shopping Center -- Lee Highway and Spout Run Parkway (don't worry - we don't bike on those roads to get there or to get back - about 1/4 mile from the start, via an uphill trail)

Route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/7303361

Hope to see you there!

We'll be there with the new bike!

Darn. Sue and I could've made Sunday. We are booked Saturday. Have a good one! That you're ending where The Italian Store is... even better.

P.S. Lobbying opportunity- Bob Tramonte, owner of The Italian Store, is not normally there Saturday evenings, but worth a shot. Ask them if there will be *bike racks* at the soon-to-open Westover location. (I would remind Bob of when Jim Bellas & The Bicycle Exchange were his next door neighbors.)

Have fun! Sorry we can't make it!

Yeah, we called an audible and changed the date, because the weather looks SO MUCH BETTER on Saturday. We'll miss those of you who can't make it.
