Hey ya'll. I got excused from dad duties for the Final HH, so I'd like to convoy down with some folks for beers.

Looks like Boomer is leading a convoy at 515pm:

I volunteer to lead a convoy from the Cabi station near the Jefferson Memorial to ride to the HH via 14th Street Bridge ->MVT -> 4MR into Shirlington.
Meet up time: 5pm
Wheels roll: 5:15pm
ETA HH: <6PM

Anyone want to roll earlier? I could be persuaded to meet at the Jefferson to head down at 4:15.

Do I want to roll earlier? Yes. Am I able to roll earlier? Not sure. If my wife can switch work-at-home days and get the kids from school on Friday then I can do 4:15. Will let you know ASAP.

If not, I will try to meet Boomer's group. Failing that, I know how to get there on my own.

Hmmm, hot laps at Hains? Forecast says four is fine on Friday for me.

I'm most likely in for 4:15.

I can't make it early. I'm going to shoot for the 515 but don't wait up for me.

Whether or not I can make it early depends on the weather.

Anyone convoying in from The West (i.e. Tysons and Wester)?

Looks like I'll be rolling from Falls Church around 445pm if anyone's interested in joining me for a ride down the WOD.

Maybe. I'm hoping to leave work way early to get home and pack all the goodies. If all goes well, I may be able to join. Slow down as you pass the Custis junction. I'll assume you'll roll by about 5:00, so if it's later than that and I'm not there, keep going.

I'll probably hit that junction a bit later - maybe 5.20-5.30.

Okay. If I miss americancyclo, I'll probably wait. If no one is waiting, assume I either went ahead or I'm deliberately avoiding you.

Is anyone taking a tandum to HH with room for a stoker? Due to a fairly significant mechanical malfunction on Wednesday my bike is in the shop/basement and I'm stuck to the Orange/Silver metro line. PM me if this might work for you - thanks.

While I can't help you out, I love that you can post this knowing it's possible someone will say yes.

I've got a trail-a-bike you might be too big for...

OR.....

Maybe someone who lives close to a metro stop you can get to can loan you a 2nd bike for the trip to Shirlington. Seriously, I would do this if BOTH of my bikes were not in the shop right now (I'm already using a loaner).

Are you at work? Does anyone live near Ballston who can loan GB a bike? Or along the Orange Line where he can meet you?

I actually rode my own bike, not a CaBi, all the way to work today so I'm up for the convoy leaving TJ Memorial at 1715 today if you'll have me.

How about riding a CaBi? Closest docking point to Cap City is just up S Quincy Street by The Energy Club gym and across the street from the Shirlington Transit Center.

I'm near Steve O in Dominion Hills (about .6 miles from the EFC Metro, and 4.5 miles from Cap City in Shirlington). GB, you're welcome to borrow my back up bike.

I'm also thinking about biking from Falls Church to the happy hour, and I was just wondering if anyone had advice for going back there afterward. I'm a newbie and haven't really done any night riding except for a sleaze ride on quiet residential streets :). I'm probably too slow to join a return convoy if there is one, is it safe to take the w&od trail after dark on my own if I have a reflective jacket and light? Or do you recommend I find an alternative way to get home? Thanks for any help!

There should be no issue riding the W&OD after the Happy Hour (unless it snows ;)). Clearly we will have several other riders out there with you and I expect we will be in no hurry.

All these convoys are leaving too late for me. When you arrive at Cap City, I'll be passed out on the floor. I'll be the one with the paper bag on my head.

I'll be riding back to Falls Church at the end of the festivities. Look for the purple sparkle pony and the amp. Also, let's be honest, I'm not fast and my speed doesn't go up after a beer. No need to worry about keeping up.

I will be riding back to mile 8 (Virginia Lane) on the WOD after the HH and happy to convoy with you. I have a black Trek Madone road bike with a pink Bike Forum hanging off of my red saddle bag. I suspect that many more will be happy to join us, too.

I will be heading up the WOD and turning off at the start of the Custis after our happy get-together. Will. Not. Be. Riding. Fast.

I categorically refuse to ride in the company of Boomer2U because he placed ahead of me on BAFS and dropped me on the hills on the Vasa ride.

Unless, of course, he buys me beer. Then I promise to be his best-est friend forever at least as long as the alcohol is coursing through my veins.

Did you beat up dkel and steal his sparkle pony? 'Bout time.

She has been talking about getting a CX bike...I just didn't think it would be mine!

No, but I will be with the purple pony and the amp. That's just easier then describing my bike.

FINE. I will be on a bike and will probably be wearing my black tights, black sweater and yellow jacket. Is that more helpful?

I'll be heading back to DC - 4MR - MVT - 14th St Bridge - 15th St NW and would be happy to escort anyone who needs it

Thanks for the responses! Biking back home seems much more convenient than trying to figure out buses, so I'll look out for Rockford and the purple sparkle pony, Boomer, and maybe Pete if he and Boomer are friends again :) I'll be on a blue hybrid.
