Anybody else going? Octothorpes bikewoman, dcv, and I will be there. Looks like it's not full yet, and currently the weather forecast calls for sun... http://www.waba.org/events/rides/vasa-ride/

I'm signed up. So is Boomer. I think we are going to caravan to the start from the Custis/WOD interesection. Time TBD.

Doing the middle ride; stopping for pancakes half way through!

Signed up...this is my first time with this ride, so we'll see how it goes. I don't ride in a fluorescent coat though so, just based on previous years' photos, they may not let me participate.

I'm in with SteveO for the 59 miler. Anyone interested to convoy with us from the WOD-Custis Junction to the House of Sweden?

Ciao Boomer, considering joining you guys to prove that I do, in fact exist. ;) Have yet to sign up though. Do you happen to have a link to an actual map of the ride?

A bit nervous that this might not entail HP loops... :p

WABA isn't officially releasing the map beforehand, but you can find previous rides on Strava. I think if they make any changes to the route from year-to-year, they're pretty minor. 2012-2014 look identical to me...

I'm marshalling. I know there's at least one other Inquisitor on the ride. For those who are wondering, yes, there is still room to ride; yes, they do still need marshals; yes, you should.

I'll be a marshal on the Full Vasa (59 miler).

Another chance for a confirmed sighting?! Not at HP?? Here's the registration link for the VASA ride; please note that this is a WABA members only ride, so join WABA before trying to register if you haven't done so already. http://www.waba.org/events/rides/vasa-ride/

I am marshaling the shortest distance. Need to get my bike legs back, I was a slacker all winter. I totally regret taking the winter off. Next year I will ride all winter.

Me too! Except I'm doing the middle route. But we can have a Team 2 toast with blueberry soup afterwards.

That would be great! Think about switching to the long course, we can take it nice and easy. I'm planning on sweeping, so you might actually want to ride faster than me, but if you're off the back, I'll be there with you! :)

I signed up for the full ride so hopefully I'll see some of you folks there. I rode this ride back in 2013 I think.

I signed up for the 59-mile, and it's going to be rainy so yay!

How dumb would it be to do this on a singlespeed?

About when would the festivities be concluded if one were to do the long ride at a reasonable (not speed racer) pace? Need to know before I pull the trigger given family responsibilities...

I would guess about 12:30pm, based on my 2013 ride. Depends a bit on how long you want to spend sipping your blåbärssoppa when you get back!

i.e. 4 hours ~60 miles - including stops.

Should be fine - I think the only notable climb is the Old Anglers Inn hill (1 mi, averages about 4%) , although there's rollers after that.

I'm on the long course, but it will be a more leisurely ride this year.

Cool that you're sweeping! Ok, will think about it! For me it'll be all about whether I can finish the course in time to still get the free food at the official festivities afterwards. :o Food motivation is still motivation, right?

I'm marshaling the Kort Vasa. I'm riding to the House of Sweden from Best Buns, leaving around 8am for a leisurely little spin probably via W&OD/Custis/Key Bridge. Anyone who's doing the Halv or Kort that would like to rollout with me is welcome to meet me there but Full Vasa riders need to get there earlier than our projected arrival.

The only significant changes (both were first made for the 2014 event) were that the Full Vasa now avoids the Georgetown Branch Trail out of Bethesda since it has been such a muddy mess and then instead of the Brandywine climb from Broad Branch out of Rock Creek Park, you climb Davenport.

Ok, signed up, paid, a proud new WABA member and soon-to-be Vasa rider.

Doing the long route. Will be closely following Rod to make sure he is doing ok at the end of the peloton. Waiting for the opportunity to attack from the back, as it were. ;)

. . caravan to the start from the Custis/WOD interesection. Time TBD.

Let's say wheels roll at 7:35 AM for anyone who wants to join the convoy. 59-miler starts at 8:30, so that will get us there by about 8:00, plenty of time to pick up our cue sheets.

Click "Like" if you would like to celebrate the post-Vasa ride party (after having blueberry soup, of course) at Bardo's (http://bardodc.com/) for a beerneuring opportunity. Bardo's is about 4.5 miles from the House of Sweden, and we can get there by crossing DC on L street for most of the way. Bardo's (1200-1216 Bladensburg Rd, NE. DC) opens at 1 pm on Sundays. Estimated time of departure from House of Sweden will be somewhere between 12:30pm to 1pm (subject to change)

As per Steve O, the Fearless Leader of the Busters has indicated (http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?8326-Sunday-WABA-Vasa-Ride&p=111178#post111178), 7:35.

Apologies to all, but I am too ill to make the ride or lead the convoy. If I truly rally I may come down at the end to see my friends. Thanks, PPete for leading the convoy in my absence. Have a great ride, all!

Sorry to hear about Steve O's illness. Nothing changes time-wise: we meet at the WOD/Custis intersection at 7:35 for those who wish to convoy in to the start of the Vasa.

Looking forward to the ride!

SteveOhNo!

I've been feeling a bit exhausted today (despite pie), so will see how I feel by morning. The fact that this could make it a 100-mile weekend is tempting though.

Good to see folks there. I saw dcv, Bilsko, Rod Smith, Boomer2U, f148vr, Rootchopper, jopamora, consularrider, ramblingrider, Bruno Moore, bluerider and a bunch of bikedc/FCC I folks - and also rode most of the ride ShawnoftheDread. A good part of the ride was chilly and headwindy but for the return leg the wind turned around. Until we got to Virginia that is - but at least then the sun came out.

The blueberry soup served by the Swedehearts was the highlight of Vasa, as usual :-)
