I put this on the calendar, but it's also worth noting here:

Be a part in making Arlington even better for people who bike! Join the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) Action Committee for Arlington County.

Monday, March 16th: 7pm - 9pm, Clarendon Presbyterian Church

WABA’s Action Committees are an opportunity for local bicyclists and advocates to join together to further our mission of a more bikeable region. The Action Committees empower residents with the tools, training and support needed to win campaigns for better biking infrastructure, policies, and programs. With a local focus, the committee can advance campaigns that make a difference in your community. No need to be an expert. Every voice counts!

Coming up THIS MONDAY!

FAQ - How is the Arlington Action Committee different from Arlington's Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC)?

Good question! The BAC is an advisory body, charged with advising the County Manager and County Staff on bicycle issues. If that advice is not heeded (as it often is not), the BAC has little effective recourse as an official government body.

The Arlington Action Committee is an offshoot of the non-profit Washington Area Bicyclist Association and is not affiliated with the County in any way. It aims to be an effective advocacy organization, with a full suite of tools at its disposal to lobby all key decision makers to advance cycling in Arlington. It can agitate loudly and publicly in a way that the BAC really should not and arguably cannot.
