Can someone please volunteer to handle registration?

This is Washington, D.C. - the global capital of resigning powerful political positions in order to spend more time with one's family. Of course the only one in my house that wants to spend more time with me is the dog. Anyway, in light of (check one)

[ ] Nude photos that were leaked from iCloud
[ ] The fact that I am paid $$$$$ but cant play quarterback worth dirt
[ ] Recent allegations made by Rupert Murdock
[ ] My recent religious conversion, selling all my belongings, and moving to Kiev
[ ] Oprah told me to

I hereby resign the Office of President of the United States... er, the Office of Registration Czar.

Who wants to volunteer?

I imagine I'm not the only person who hasn't the faintest idea what's involved in registering people.

Registration form is up and running, collecting everyone's most sensitive information. By the time we are done, the lucky registration czar should be able to steal the identity of everyone on the forum!

It pours into a Google spread sheet. Using the Steven O MR3 randomizer, plus geographic preferences, plus slacker preferences - you form teams of 10 to 12 people. It's easy.

We can build this into the web app for future competitions too.

I will work with the registration czar to help form the teams using MR30. You do not want me to BE the registration czar, unless you don't care what happens to the sluckers. . . I mean slackers.

Was thinking of a logo for FS2015 that followed this type of idea

Any volunteers?

Today during coffee ViceGrip came up with an excellent award. Given to the team that takes the most team rides. This could be determined by either Strava or maybe taking a group picture of the ride. The whole of the team would have to go on the ride. The captain would submit to the Czar the picture, a link to the ride on Strava, and or maybe a little write up. The winner could be the team with the most rides, the most days, the most miles or the most points for group rides.

Would anyone care to be Czar for this award and create it?

Since I missed registration entirely, I can volunteer in some capacity. My tech skills are in par with my Nepalese languge skills--non-existent, but I can at least help produce a prize or something.

Terpfan, that's nice of you, and at least one other non-participant has volunteered in the past. If you'd like to do something, the info near the bottom of my post today on the Newbie thread (happy hours, events, rides etc.) might be helpful.

Don't know if anyone put together a logo for this year. I don't know what the past ones look like, but I messed around a little. I can understand if no one is interested. I really have no formal photoshop/image experience. I thought something like these might be cool, someone else might want to put something better together. Of course, if anyone has comments thoughts or "no thanks", I'm all ears.

um... I like them, but at the same time I wonder, do they look phallic or is it just me?
Not that I mind. :+)
Maybe it would be safer to do something like a picture of a pretty red bike (profile) with icicles/snowflakes superimposed, if anyone knows how to photoshop.

Um, cough, um, really, appreciate the effort, um.... I think if we put that logo on anything we would get arrested!

Is there any way to do something like this

Yeah, I was trying last year to suggest (hope for someone to create) a logo that incorporated the saddle/bullhorn head with a frozen motif. I considered putting it up on one of the e-lance type sites, as I imagine there are people in Bangalore or Bucharest that could do a fantastic job at a great exchange rate. I wish I had the Illustrator skillz to do it myself.

The Kid has done jobs on 99-Designs. Maybe I will use that. It would be nice to have a logo we could all use.

Here are some brainstorming ideas. I just ran the pics thru Photoshop. Adding text is easy; adding icicles is not.

This is a really cool pic from the VeloJoy (http://velojoy.com/2013/03/01/spring-cycling-tips/) blog. It is possible we could get permission to use it.

Sorry! It's not my fault. Bike seats are just shaped like phali!

More like this? I can remove more text. Or I can just give up.

uh... pointing it downward and adding a couple smaller dangly bits on either side of the longer dangly bit in the middle makes it --less-- phallic???:o:eek:

FWIW, my vote would be for the icicle bicycle in KLizotte's first post. I really like that one and think the whole saddle thing is a bit . . . problematic??

I love the icicle bicycle. It's beautiful and it captures well what FS is all about.

I too love the icicle bicycle. My only suggestion would be to make it a logo that wouldn't be cropped. Not sure if that makes sense, but thinking about how it might be incorporated on pint glasses or jersey design, etc.

Love all this. We need copyright permission for any art. The purpose is to create a logo that we can then all use on swag.

Folks should look thru their digital photos for pics of themselves or bikes in the snow/ice, etc. It is easy to take a photo and recolor it, funk it up, etc. with Photoshop. The hardest part is finding a cool pic. It also eliminates any copyright issues.

That's because you didn't ride every day during last year's challenge, you sissy! ;)

hozn

:-) Not only that, I didn't compete at all! The ride everyday was bad enough in the relatively warm (but oh so windy) previous winter. 2400 miles of darkness with freezing digits. It was fun, but kinda like having an infant, I need another year or two to forget. :-)

Has this been officially adopted as our official logo? Could someone who has one in their possession bring it to happy hour and let me have a close look at it?

I think it's actually going to be a bit too complex for what I have in mind, but I'd like to at least look at one in person before deciding that.

No, I did not earn one of my own last year.:o

If nobody can track down the original vector art, I could probably whip something together without much fuss. Just PM me if no one can find the original art -

'Someone' should volunteer to ask Dickie if we can use it as the official logo.

I'm sure Dickie has a CAD file (or something) that he used to cut those.

Have you asked Dickie?

The art was very generously designed and created by Dickie and his wife, Carolyn, both of whom are artists and beloved members of this forum. I agree with Shawn and americancyclo that they should be asked. Maybe someone who sees Dickie frequently and can ask in person?
