Put your old, unwanted bicycle(s) to good use! Donate to Bikes for the World at the twice-yearly Environmental Collection and Recycling Event (ECARE) next Saturday, October 11th, from 8:30 am - 3 pm, at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 125 South Old Glebe Rd.

Sponsored by Arlington County, this multi-commodity recycling event offers Arlington residents the opportunity to safely recycle household hazardous waste, obsolescent computers & electronics, and small metal scrap items. Local non-profits participate and reuse usable items: besides Bikes for the World accepting bicycles and anything bicycle-related, Art for Humanity accepts household goods destined for the poor in Honduras, and other groups accept eyeglasses and durable medical equipment.

The Arlington-based Bikes for the World is the nationís largest bicycle reuse charity, and your donated bicycle may become the honorary 100,000th bike to be loaded at a celebratory event to be held in Arlington later in November.
