There will be a meeting coming up at the end of June to discuss station expansion locations. Check out the below link for details on the meeting and proposed locations:

I'd like to see 1 or 2 stations near Pershing Drive, perhaps at Pershing and Washington Blvd. The trip between Pentagon City and Court House/Clarendon is not easy to make in the 30-min. time limit (before incurring per ride fees), especially on the slower CaBi bikes. A station in between the two areas would encourage more riding between the two main CaBi areas in Arlington.

The other alternative route is to go over to the Mt. Vernon Trail and head to Rosslyn. Then ride over to Court House and Clarendon (and eventually Ballston). That's not ideal in many cases. MetroRail does not offer a direct route between Pentagon City and Clarendon. This is a chance for CaBi to offer up a new direct path for those who don't or can't drive.

Perhaps next year, some stations could be added to the Columbia Pike corridor to further increase direct north-south CaBi trips in Arlington. In addition, the bike infrastructure could be improved. There aren't many good bike routes between Pentagon City and Clarendon.

Hi!
I'm really excited to see that 30 stations will be added! This is really great news. I agree with the plan to base them along the R-B corridor, but what about the neighborhoods in between R-B and Pentagon City? It's reasonable to expect people to ride between the neighborhoods, and there needs to be a few stations in between. Also, it's reasonable to expect people to want to go somewhere on the bikes, instead of just riding where they normally walk.
Please consider adding 2-3 bike stations to Shirlington, 4-5 along Colombia Pike from the new Giant, Drafthouse area, and down to Glebe, and to serve as a decent mid station put 3 stops in near in Penrose: at the DHS, TJ community center, and again along Glebe.

I think it goes without saying, this is going to prove a need for improved bike facilities along 27 and Glebe to finally establish N/S bike routes in Arlington, which will make Arlington the BEST city in the country for cycling!

If you can't attend the meeting, you can provide input at the Capital Bikeshare Expansion Crowdsourcing Map. Add new locations for stations within the target area or vote and comment on previously submitted suggestions.

As a Pentagon City resident I completely agree with you. I really wish there was an easy, safe, relatively quick way to bike between PC and the Clarendon area. Seems silly to drive for the 10 minute trip.

I tried out the PC-Court House trip a couple months ago. I rode over to the Court House Rd./Columbia Pike intersection (partly on the sidewalks and partly on the roads). Then I took Court House Rd. north to the small bike trail. That trail loops around before heading north next to Arlington Blvd. I've since read that the Pershing Dr. crossing is no longer an option because of ongoing construction. Hopefully that intersection will be improved as the construction project moves along.

There are going to be other short-term problems with 10th St. N. and the area around the intersection of Arlington Blvd. and N. Courthouse Rd. VDOT is rebuilding the interchange in that area. That will likely take quite some time, at least two more years according to the VDOT website. Probably a lot longer than that. The construction plan includes improved bike access through that area. But for the next two years, it could be very difficult to ride through there.

I guess it would be more convenient to ride over to Clarendon, once those CaBi stations have been installed. Even if they don't go with my Pershing Blvd. idea, I hope they add a station or two near 10th St. and Washington Blvd. That's close enough to the Clarendon Metro, nearby businesses and residential buildings to be useful. It should also be possible to ride to that intersection from Pentagon City within the 30-minute time limit, even on the slow-moving CaBi bikes.

Curious about the results of the public input on Arlington's Capital Bikeshare expansion?

The Pershing/Washington Blvd. location received a lot of votes, 3rd most on the list. I hope one of the stations is installed there.
