The Total 200 has been rescheduled to Saturday, June 14, 2014. There is no longer a conflict with the Air Force Classic weekend.

When I looked a week or two ago, the event's website (http://www.total200.com/Registration) didn't have a date for the ride, but said registration would open on December 1st. Today, it shows the ride on Saturday, June 7 (I believe the day before the Air Force Cycling Classic Crystal Ride), but registration still isn't open. The lowest price for the ride is supposed to be good through February 3, 2014.

From their Facebook:

"SAVE THE DATE: Our targeted ride date is June 7, 2014. We are still finalizing all the details for our 10th annual Total 200 so registration for the event will open on January 6, 2014. We know many of you are eager to register and plan for the event- apologies for the delay. Stay tuned!"

I'm not sure I really need to do this again. I'll see if it is open and see what my schedule is like when it gets closer. That's similar timeframe for the 200 mile gravel grinder that I wanted to do. Might make for an interesting time to do them in consecutive weekends.

Yeah, I definitely don't need to do that one again. I am targeting Diabolical Double next year instead. I like hills and such (I say now) and Total200 was a lot of long, straight, flat roads.

Funny, I felt the same way about the diabolical double, a lot of disjointed hills stuck together, essentially hill after hill, with little character, no racing flats to break up the monotony. Although, the hardest thing I ever did by far, it was tedious after a while. I'm skipping it for other fondos with a good mixture. I have the Battenkill and Misery in my sights,,,, last place mind you.
Is the Total actually on the same weekend as the Air Force? I always wanted to do the 200, but the Air Force is my favorite and can't be missed.

Are we still planning for an unofficial BikeArlington team? If so, I gotta start training like yesterday!

Oh huh :-/ Maybe the DD isn't going to be the fun I had hoped either then! I suppose anything that takes this long in the saddle is going to feel a little boring (Wilderness 101 felt kinda boring too and certainly had a lot more variation), but I was hoping that DD might be a little more scenic and obviously more elevation. (It sounds like DD is harder too, though certainly I could improve my time greatly on T200, so that isn't a real requirement.) If Battenkill or Mountains of Misery can be done as a single day outing, perhaps those might make better candidates ...

A few others on the board also did it and their experience may have been different, but all four of my group felt the same. However, I'm just an average Joe rider and wasn't attacking anything, so after a while it became a slow 7 mph grind. It may be different for a climber like yourself. The one hill, Killer Miller was pretty amazing. It pops up in the middle of a farm field and it is absolutely brutal. I had to use every once of my strength to not get off my bike. It is pretty hard to squeeze in a flat in 120m with 16k. If you like climbing, you should do it, and don't let the whining of this fat guy sway you.

I'm hoping to pull in a bunch of tri guys and paceline on TT bikes. Hopefully it won't be as hot this year.

It's climby for sure. There are a couple scenic views (the climb with the chalk writing that tells you to go "Wooooaaaah" when you get to the top and the sky just opens up and you can see for miles was pretty cool...and then it immediately throws you into a 50mph descent.)

Oh and after Killer Miller and the descent into town, it's recommended that you go off course and go back up the Westernport Wall at least once. (you ride parallel to it downhill so it's not really out of your way).

And you'll definitely want to stay over after the DD--it would be a long drive to do on tired legs.

I'll do the Total again with the idea of improving my time, but just not maybe in 2014. I'm likin' either the DD or Pete's Gravel 200. Who knows, maybe I'll go really crazy and volunteer.

Volunteering is an excellent way to find out that the Total 200 is a stupid idea and to support the brave idiots who do it every year. I mean idiots in the nicest way...

Anybody thinking about the "Virginia Rough Roubaix" on 4/19 Its out of Harrisonburg, run by Shenandoah Mountain Touring. Same guys that put on the SM 100 among other things.

DaveK will be doing the 125 with me. He just doesn't know it yet.

It's kind of tough putting together the 2014 ride calendar since very few events after April 1 have even posted a 2014 date.

I don't think you could pull that off with either honestly. You're looking at either 8 or 11 hours (total) of driving. I only did part of Garrett County last year, so I can't comment on the DD, but I've only heard great things.

Come on, man. I didn't have any problem last year doing 125. It was the final 33 miles that I managed to squeeze out that did me in.

I'll bring my seven passenger minivan with the hitch mounted rack for 4 bikes and follow you all around.

Getting older and wiser.

Kill Bill, Powhattan Dirty 200 and Total200 in successive weekends?

So that means:

Kill Bill -- May 24/25
Powhattan Dirty 200 -- May 31/June 1
Total 200 -- June 7

I'm in for Powhattan ... if there is a scaled down 100 mile option.

Stupid doesn't really have a particular season... as was evidenced by last year's HP204.

So that means:

Kill Bill -- May 24/25
Powhattan Dirty 200 -- May 31/June 1
Total 200 -- June 7

PD200 will have a 100k, 100mi and 200mi option.

Josh's Baller's Ride is May 24/25. Might have to move Kill Bill a week earlier and go for 4 weekends in a row. http://ballersride.com

Maybe... we should put a shared google calendar up of these things.

That backs right up to Bike to Work Day and the Phoenix Derby. It's going to be a busy couple of weeks!!

It makes it a long-shot for me to get that much weekend time off. We'll see how it goes. I'd like to get most of those rides done next year. Not sure how I can connect them up.

Ok, the Total 200 is Saturday with a very different route this year. Who is still planning on riding, and what distance? I am signed up for the 200 miles, but will be struggling to finish before dark.

In for 200 miles. I don't think I'm planning on riding to the ride and back home this year though. Nothing to prove...
