Ladies and Gentleman,

You are formally invited to attend the 1st Women & Bicycles Bridesmaid Dress ride. The most formal informal ride you'll ever attend!

Saturday, October 26th at 1:00 pm
Meridian Hill Park16th & U Sts NW
Washington, DC

The Bridesmaid Dress Ride is your opportunity to show off that bridesmaid dress that you swore you could wear again but is now so out of date; that prom dress you're thrilled you still fit into or that ballgown you didn't get to wear because your date got pneumonia and you ended up ordering take-out instead. (Or, if you're Tim Kelley that pretty pretty princess dress...)

This will be an all-experience social ride for anyone who identifies as a woman,or anyone who wants to wear a dress. The ride will be leisurely and end with food and libations.

It's going to be a 5-mile-ish ride ending up in Adams Morgan. Route and final ending location TBD. (I will update once I have the information.)

So, what are you waiting for?!? Find your dress, invite your friends! Facebook event page here. (https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/513331265427069/)

Do the Gents have to wear their power blue tuxes?

I propose that we crowdsource the costume that Tim Kelley will wear!

Well, we already know that he owns a bikini....

I'm thinking he would look good in sparkly, pink tulle.

Her salutation suggested she's only inviting one of us, and I think it's Tim because he looks so pretty in pink.

Naw, it's because there's only one gentleman on this forum. The rest of you are hoodlums and scofflaws. :) (Or, perhaps it was a low caffeine late afternoon typo moment...)

I think you're pretty spot on with the hoodlum and scofflaw thing.

More info from Nelle...

We just mapped out Saturday's Route. We'll be riding a little over an hour at a leisurely pace and avoid most of DC's hills. We'll stop at two DC landmarks where wedding trinkets are aplenty. There won't be shopping, thank goodness, but there will be bathroom and snack breaks if necessary.

We'll end the celebration with some dancing tunes, and savory treats, and warm alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.

Plus, the weather looks fabulous. Blue skies and crisp autumnal temperatures. Pull out your dresses and find your darling matching sweaters!

~~~
Many of us have frilly, lacy, taffeta-based skeletons in our closets: You know, bridesmaid dresses that haven't found much use since our cousin's vows were exchanged a few years back. Pull out your obnoxious wedding-wear and get on your bike!
This social ride is for anyone who identifies as a woman or who wants to wear a dress. We always have a strict no rider left behind policy, and will start the beginning of the ride with a quick skillshare on group riding, and city biking.
It will move at a leisurely pace and will, of course, end with food and libations at Angles Bar, your new favorite bar in the heart of Adams Morgan.
Bring:
-Your most flamboyant bridesmaid dress and possibly a darling warm sweater to boot
-Your friends
-Bicycle, lock, lights, water
-Weather appropriate clothing
-Helmets mandatory, as always
Getting there:
-Meridian Hill Park is accessible via the U Street Metro Station, buses, bikeshare, is surrounded by on-street parking, and Car2Go.
Mark you calendar, find your froofy dress, invite your friends!
Let us know you're coming on the Facebook event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/513331265427069/permalink/534289559997906/)! (Or, here on the forum.)
