Please join us for another great happy hour on the patio at Capitol City Brewing Company, Shirlington, on September 19, starting around 4:30-5 p.m. This might be the last Third Thursday get-together of the season and the weather is looking beautiful!

All are welcome! For newcomers to the forum - this is a great opportunity to get together with fellow bike commuters and to get to know some of the people you probably pass on the trails every day.

As usual, it's helpful to know how many people to expect, so please let me know if you plan to come so we have the right number of tables and servers. Beers will be available for $2.50 and a selection of appetizers will be half price. Cap City will accommodate us with individual checks.

Capitol City is easy to get to by bike, bus or car and there is plenty of parking for bikes and cars in Shirlington Village. 3665

In (and hopefully The Kid is coming too). After all, he has to hear from Rootchopper and Consularrider the slings and arrows of the college application process.

It doesn't have to be, but I plan to be there anyway. ;)

The wife and I have 2 hours of soccer practice on Thursday night, but if if rains really hard practice will be canceled. Here's hoping for a tropical storm!

Most likely I will be there and crossing my fingers that the wife and baby will join. The kid eats like me so he'll need his own appetizer.

Giving this a bump - Sept. 19 happy hour

Also, if anyone would like to ride the Backroads Century on Sept. 22 and couldn't get in (it's sold out), please let me know.

Speaking of happy hour . . . I've got a list of a little over a dozen people planning to come this Thursday. Anyone else??

The weather is going to be beautiful for a ride out to Shirlington and I'm going to wear my newly acquired beer jersey in honor of the upcoming Oktoberfest (which in Deutschland officially starts on Sept. 21). There are a lot of people I miss seeing since I had to miss the other Third Thursday happy hours this summer!

If you can, please let me know if you plan to come. (And if you can't, come anyway!)

I plan to be there.

Also - a reminder for the special Tuesday night edition of happy hour on my patio at the Bluemont Junction - Oktoberfirst - on Oct. 1. More reminders to follow.

Suddenly, I am thirsty. Count me in. I must make sure I am properly beerdrated for the 50 States/Backroads double metric century this weekend. Also, Mrs. Rootchopper will probably be coming too.

Are you riding down from Rosslyn? And why only a double, you should join me in working on a triple metric! Can I take Monday off? ;)

From Sunday thru Friday I'll have about 170 miles in so the double metric will pretty much do me in.

I am riding from Rosslyn down the MVT to 4MR following the scent of Kolsch the whole way

Sorry John. You will not be admitted.... unless.... well, here's a solution.... you could rent a CABI at the Shirlington station and ride it around the block :p

We're all set with Cap City. Tables will be set up around 4:30 or so, but I think most of us will get there around or after 5 p.m.

See you all this afternoon!

How I wish that I could go, but my daughter is in HB Woodlawn's production of Gypsy and tonight is opening night. Someone drink a beer for me.

No monsoon planned for tonight, so I won't be able to make it (soccer practice). Oh well, tonight is also Back To School Night at my sons' school so I guess it would really have to be a storm to not have to go there too. See you at FCC II.

Ugh...due to a confluence of events, I won't be able to make it. I have to head straight home tonight...

After two straight back-to-school nights, I desperately need beer. I'll drink one for you.

Thanks to all those who came and made it such a great evening! It was great to see old friends and meet new ones, and the weather was perfect! Great turnout, and while we missed those who couldn't make it, I have a pretty good hunch that we'll see you soon at some other get-together.

It was nice meeting some of the folks from the forum and putting names with faces. And thanks to Shawn and Dismal Scientist for showing me the way along the W&OD.

"Age is not a number, it's a state of mind"

Or more like, old is how you feel at the end of the week after riding your bike in the cold rain in a headwind. I think those may have been the conditions when I joined the forum :)

I think there are other questionable names on here. I saw Dirt at Kidical Mass and he actually looked quite clean....
