View Full Version : Video Camera Fun

Got a new toy this weekend. Now need to figure out how to edit...

I know, I know, unedited video is dull. But you can jump ahead. And I think this technology might be useful for route reference -- showing people what a particular route or commute looks like in real time in some cases where Google street view isn't available or doesn't tell the whole story.

You are right, it does provide a reference that is superior to Google Earth.

Cool to watch - thanks for posting GB!

I'm sorry, but this camera thing is just way too much fun.
Here was my commute tonight:
Part 1: DC PA Ave NW median lane, up the MBT, through NE DC to the Anacostia Trib trails.
Part 2: Trails to Greenbelt
Just a beautiful night for riding and a great sunset. I'm impressed that the camera does pretty good even in low light.

That was interesting -- I had read all about the new bike lanes on PA Ave, but I don't get over to that side of town very often, so thanks for the action shot!

A few years ago, some guy posted videos of the entire Mt. Vernon Trail on YouTube, split into two parts. They're interesting but the image quality isn't so great. He sped up the footage so the length of the videos would be manageable. Maybe you could film an updated HD version. That would be neat.

I'd be happy to, on weekends. In fact I'd be open to other suggestions for weekend video rides. However, I'm not familiar with other trail systems than the ones I take to work, so I'd appreciate really specific advice on start and endpoints, and other suggestions for how best to record a route. Also happy to collaborate on a ride, so that "regulars" on particular routes could narrate certain sections or add caption comments, or otherwise "lead the way" so to speak.
