When I signed my 11-year-old son, Rambo, up for this camp he was less than enthusiastic. He thinks the only thing you do on a bike is ride to the comic book store or into town for hamburgers and shakes. I was cutting into his YouTube and shooting game time by "forcing" him to be outside on his bike. "I can't believe you're making me do this."

See him suffer.

See his bike.

Real dirt on a child who played outside and with more than his thumbs.

It's a well run, well-organized, challenging camp. http://parktakes.fairfaxcounty.gov/rev1_quickresult.asp?subject=Mountain+Biking+Camp+ %288-14+yrs%29+++++++++&facility2=9999&age=9999&day=9999&view_records=SEARCH+SCHEDULE

Can't remember the last time I was envious of NoVa but this qualifies. My grandson would be all over this in a heartbeat but he's in MD.

As punishment you really need to make him clean his own bike :rolleyes:

I wish I were a kid again.

I was lucky he cleaned himself.

Getting a kid clean is not too difficult. Just tie them to a tree and use the garden hose on them.

I suggested that. And I wasn't kidding. He just screamed, leaped out of the car, and ran towards the house. It was good to see him sprint. :-) I spent the next hour hosing down his bike, the cooler full of his food and drinks, the hydration pack, and his shoes. Then I started the laundry.

Oh my god. I hope this doesn't mean he wants to camp. I may die.
