I didn't see one already, so I'll start with a few blurry eyed cell phone shots from the Greenbelt/College Park convoy.

Discovery Plaza in Silver Spring was busy at 8am and 8:45 this morning ( pre and post breakfast at Zeds' Coffee shop ) . Silver Cycles was offering free bike tune ups, assorted county officials were touting money appropriated for the MBT & Bike Share, the DJ was blasting away and lots of other booths of all stripes attracted and held a good turn out.

Stopped by Blair Plaza pit stop about 7:50 and there were a few people but it's a first time stop this year so they are on the upswing.

I was at the Discovery Plaza at about 7:30 and there was a good crowd there. There's an informal competition between Discovery Channel and NOAA on who has more riders. We've been beating Discovery for the past three years. The Discovery Channel employee manning the signup sheet was bemoaning that they were getting beaten again, but that most of them came later in the morning. I then went to the Blair Plaza pit stop, but they were just setting up. I did say hello to the convoy headed downtown as they entered Rock Creek Park.

What a fun morning! We had a record number of bikes show up at the office. We almost filled every available bike parking spot in the garage (53 bikes for 58 official parking spots).

Blinkies, blinkies everywhere!

Made it to Silver Spring Discovery Plaza, Bethesda (registered) and Rosslyn.
Looked like Rosslyn had the best free stuff. Perhaps i'll register there next year...

I'm totally wiped. I've been going full blast since 3:45am to make today happen. I'll post up photos and the whole story tomorrow. I wouldn't do it justice tonight. Here's the basic info and photos on Flickr.

I do have to say this to every one of you. Seeing the work, dedication and effort that y'all put out today made me happy, proud and grateful at a level that words cannot express. Bike To Work Day is like Christmas to me. This is the best day of the year for me... Nothing comes close. Seeing all the stuff you did in photos and in real life fixed a lot in me that gets broken over the course of the year. Thank you.

Dirt.

Vienna PS swag: Friends of W&OD slap-bracelet/safety wrap, Tysons commuter bike map on a soft microfiber square; they also had coffee, bottles of water, breakfast bars, and bananas. The Friends of W&OD also had bronze/brown water bottles, but I have too many already so I left them for the later folks.

A nighttime picture would be neat, although passersby might mistake the bike for a UFO or something.

Great pictures from everyone. I didn't bring a camera so no pictures from me.

Here's my footage from the Rosslyn and Ballston pit stops (including a cameo from Dickey), including a count I made of the cyclists I saw heading along the Custis. I had to cut my trip short because I had to be at work at 7:30 (I was still late, but oh well), so I think next year I might have to take the day off so that I can visit more locations! Thanks everyone for all the work you did!

P.S. - I KNOW there were more people I saw from the forum than just Dickey, so if you're in any of the (sorry they're blurry) pics, let me know!

There can be only one? Maybe you can find another before you retire so there can be at least two of you?

Congrats!

:) It's a small agency. My colleague who was a regular commuter managed to inspire me. There's a woman who is a more avid cyclist than I am, but she lives two blocks away. I think there's one other guys who sometimes takes a folding bike on VRE, but he doesn't talk about biking as much as the three of us do/did. I will try to inspire more people, but since this was only my first commute, well.....

Still waiting for my royalty check!

Royalty check?! Well, if I were a Youtube partner (I'm not at the moment), given that the video has gotten about 30 views, Youtube tends to give about $.0033 per view for videos with less than 1000 views, and actors tend to get paid about 10-20% of movie revenue, I would have earned about $.099 which means at the next Happy Hour I owe you a whopping...

$.02!!!

Do you want that in pennies, a check, or via Paypal? Of course, I always tend to give people my 2 cents anyways

Invest it in your future media company for me, BobCoco.

I now need a "I'm with BobCoco" t-shirt!

Historical note (seeing that I've now become a "Senior Member" on this forum): Bobco was first created out of a high school desktop publishing class project to create a business card for a fictional company. I thought of the Bobco Painting company, and the name just stuck with me.
