I need to find the sign up for the Car Free Decade. ;)

I actually drove a car this weekend. It was pretty fun. Kind of nice every now and then. My wife got tired of me sitting in the passenger seat making engine noises, so she made me drive.

Car Free Day is tomorrow!

Remember, that even if you already bike every day, you can still sign the pledge to be entered to win great prizes like an iPad or a bike.

I thought I'd dig this up... Car-free day is tomorrow. I got an e-mail last night that gave me free lunch at Flippin' Pizza since I had signed up. That made me feel special.

I got the free pizza deal too, but I've never heard of the place before - anyone know if it's worth visiting?

Anyway this year the date works out nicely because I was definitely going to ride in anyway, to make it easy to attend an after-work happy hour.

I'm a fan of the Flippin in Falls Church. Not sure where the other locations are, trying to figure out whether it's worth a ride to one for free pizza and a drink.

Edit: Looks like I'll be going up to Dupont Circle for some pizza!

CarFree Metro DC had a boot near Verizon Center to hand free stuff a few years ago. I got a nice shirt from them. Do you know if they have it this year?

Flippin' is great pizza. Arguably the best pizza that I've had in the area. Simple and with great ingredients. Hopefully they'll get their liquor license soon... in the next few weeks so they can serve beer again.

I only signed up to win the iPad. I want to send it to my daughter in Chicago so i can use the FaceTime app to see my grandkids on my iPad. Now I'm wondering if it's going to be raining when I ride home at 11 pm.

Is it just me, or did everyone who went car-free yesterday suddenly decide they HAD to drive today? Traffic was really heavy on my way in. It didn't help that there are a bunch of people in pink walking around (Is there a breast cancer walk going on today?), but I don't think that could have accounted for all the extra volume.

The cool thing for me is I forgot all about car free day but went car free anyway just as a normal day.

Amen. I haven't driven my car since May, 2010. I like that car-free is the norm. I also really like that when I got to Flippin' Pizza yesterday afternoon at 1530hours, I could see a stack of hundreds of car-free coupons that they'd collected.

I got free pizza, but gave them a $10 tip as a thank you. I do love that place. I'll be super stoked, and there every week, when they get their beer license back.

The dawn patrol was really light today. I took the long way in which had me on Lee Hwy for a while. I got passed by 3 cars in the 10 minutes I rode on it. People must have gotten a late start... hoping they'd catch the rain and be forced to sit and stare at people's bumpers ahead of them.
