Sigh...I'd do more group rides if I knew I wasn't going to get dropped like a hot rock. Is there a "C" group? Maybe I can keep up with them....

Maybe a D group? We'll ride straight to the bar and save seats for the fast people ;)

Hey I'll show up and we can keep up the rear.

Does it start today? Because the weather is perfect

I often wish there were a cycling version of hashing.

Well there is geocaching. And there are geocaching events. And many of those, particularly sponsored by NOVAGO, involve bike rides along the W&OD and such places. Maybe I should set up such a thing if there is such interest, cross feeding the NOVA Geocachers with the NOVA cyclists.

I don't know if it would be wise to drink in large quantities and ride. But there is this event that I heard about recently:

http://www.urbanbikeadventure.com/urban_bike_adventure/Washington_DC_Urban_Bike_Adventure.html

What is the Urban Bike Adventure?
The Urban Bike Adventure is designed for all skill levels, from the casual biker to the commuter to the triathlete, everyone can participate in this race. Teams of 2 or 3 ride around the city solving clues, completing challenges and racing to check points. The goal is to complete all the checkpoints and make it back to the finish line. This is a choose your own adventure race and you can complete the checkpoints in any order.

It's a nationwide series of events. They are coming to DC on August 25. There are various prizes, including a special prize for "Most Unnecessary Mileage" (verified on GPS).

Heading up Military and doing varied loops along 35th to Glebe. Should be about 15-20 miles without any real flat sections.

The things some people will do for beer and food.

Sounds good! I'll try to make it. (Although I wish there were some group rides that did hills somewhere other than North Arlington!)
