ATTN:
Hi everyone!

So, some unfortunate news...obtaining a permit for this pint-sized event has proven a bit more tricky than anticipated, so this will be postponed for a few weeks so we can make sure we abide by all the rules and dodge all potential speed bumps.

I'll bump the thread and update the title with the new info as soon as it's all settled and prepped. We're very, very sorry for any confusion this may cause and hope that when it happens you'll still have some time to stop by, or at least do the marathon style hand-off :].

If you have any questions, feel free to PM or email me at sr@spokegrenade.com
Thanks for your understanding,
Sean

Hi everyone,

I hope this winter has been treating you all as well it has me! To help make your Friday a little bit better SpokeGrenade (www.spokegrenade.com) will have a table set up at the intersection of the Custis Trail and the Washington & Old Dominion Trail (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5300172) from 6am to 8:30am on February 24th. There will be free coffee, hot chocolate, and bananas for all you wonderful people.

We’re also going to be offering some coupons for healthy discounts on our products. Because of that I’m sure we could call it an End of Season Blowout Spectacular Schmantazm Fantabulism Event!!@#$%!! (and probably should), but we’re honestly just doing this because we think you’re all some tough dogs to be hustling the trails and paths like you do every morning...so why not be rewarded for your awesomeness?

There’ll be some of our lights for you to play with, and some cups for you to fill and warm your soul with, and of course some good conversation to be had on the last Friday of February. Looking forward to meeting you. Until then, ride safe and have fun.

Best,
Sean Reilly

Can we try to pound the hot chocolate "marathon runner" style - I'll stop and talk too but it seems like a fun thing to do. Also good location selection.

50% chance of rain means 50% chance I'll show up! Will do my best to be there, it's right on my commute!

Even in the rain I ride past that spot on my way to work, so I'll be there one way or another.

i was running late and rode by at 0710 and there wasn't a soul in site not even a drop of coffee or donut crumb suggesting anyone had been around.

Adamx, I think you were two days early. Look for them (and some of us) on Friday, the 24th.

There was a third grader who did this back in 2010 and she didn't seem to have any permitting problems. Her approach was to just do it and ask for forgiveness later. Story even got picked up by local press and she didn't have any issues.

Haha that's neat. Sadly though, I'd say the motivation to fine a third grade is a bit less versus an established company :).

You know what, regardless of the legitimate pit-stop event thingy being postponed (and it will happen, I promise you that), I've decided I'll still come out and hand out some coupons and bottles of water if anyone is interested in stopping for a brief moment :)

To those who did, thanks for stopping by!

I'll be working on doing this again mid/late March with the snacks and drinks this time haha. I'll be sure to post a another thread/or bump this one, when the date is finalized.

Thanks again! Ride safe.

Saw you over a half mile before that at the Madison Manor 4 Mile Run Bridge as I was heading west for some extra milage, forgot to say hi.

I said "hi" in my mind. I couldn't tell if I said anything out loud. I guess I didn't. D'OH!

I was out there from 6:30 to 8:30am.

@Dirt
Ha! One of the guys in that group said with a confused tone, "that guy just took a picture of us...", funny that it was you. I had literally just gotten everything over to that spot when you came by, hadn't even put the banner up yet.

They didn't let him do anything but water, as it required special permits. Still, got to see a demonstration of his light (and rehydrate).

I remember that guy very well. His stunned look was priceless. The look on his face told a tale of vast encyclopedia of knowledge of which he was completely unaware. It was the best stunned look that I've seen since..... Wednesday when I rode 2 bikes home at the same time.

I mean that in the nicest way. :D

It was the best stunned look that I've seen since..... Wednesday when I rode 2 bikes home at the same time. I love ghost riding bikes, it's so nice when you have to stop for something, just balancing there without any effort..far more efficient than a trackstand. Kind of makes me want a sidecar!
