Ingredients:

1 $20 helmet (bonus - nice and toasty in winter)
1 old innertube
2 o-rings off old Target pill bottles
1 $25 LED flashlight (http://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/the-211/Romisen-RC-dsh-N3-CREE-R5/Detail)

Produces:
448449

So far so good - it's much better than the 1/2 watt PB Blaze I mounted on my helmet before. I use it in conjunction with a fork-mounted light, and it lights up the twisty parts of the trail quite well.

250 lumen flashlights are under $10 on ebay!

I'm wondering how this baby will work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3800-Lumen-CREE-XM-L-3x-T6-LED-Flashlight-Torch-Lamp-/280765159868?pt=AU_Torches&hash=item415ee859bc

Just don't puncture (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjF2lcVAHZo) the battery (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xtmBJ9X8Y8) (LiPo 18650).

Yeah 18650s kind of scare me, esp since a lot of them (and their chargers) are cheap Chinese made ones. Of course I realized this after I bought my flashlights that use them, although at least they only use one battery per flashlight. I test them regularly enough with a voltmeter.

As for the original question, I'm going with this for $18

I got one at Target on a whim for less than that ^

If the LiPos in your light do go critical, you will look like a fighter jet dropping countermeasure flares.
