View Full Version : Bike Ride to Save Nick's Organic Farm - Saturday, November 5 10:30am - 3:30pm

11-02-2011, 01:34 PM
Caught this on WashCycle this morning. I'll probably go. Looks like a good time for a good cause.

Nick's Organic Farm provides organic seed and feed to other farmers in the area. But the farm is under threat of being turned into Montgomery County's 502nd, 503rd, 504th and 505th soccer fields!

In order to raise awareness and build power to keep the farm going, we're organizing a bike ride to the farm. We'll take a small walking tour of the farm and why organic grasses and seeds are necessary. We'll also hear about the campaign to SAVE NICK's ORGANIC FARM and learn what we can all do to protect organic farmers everywhere!

The ride will start at Dupont Circle but we'll also stop at MacArthur Blvd and Brooks Lane as well as Bethesda Food Co-op to pick up more riders.

From Dupont Circle, the ride is an pretty easy, flat 28 miles round trip. There is only one brutal hill and no shame in walking it (I probably will!). In fact, it is that hill that makes Nick's farm so precious.

$5-$10 suggested donation. No one turned away! :)
