Not to be nice to the current administration, but it seems that the original placement was more symbolic than practical. It wasn't accessible to the public, and I'm guessing few White House staffers took advantage of it. It was bad optics to remove, but not necessarily that big a deal.

It got 71 trips a month. That suggests that at least two White House staffers, probably more, were using it.

I have mixed feelings about this. One the one hand, the existence of a Bikeshare kiosk accessible only to a select few never sat well with me. OTOH, this is a particularly small-hearted and petty example of this Administration's apparent favored MO: anything Obama did, undo it, no matter what. Don't bother with analysis or reason; just undo it, because Obama.
