View Full Version : What color is the 2016 BTWD t-shirt?

The BTWD website home page is yellow...which leads me to believe the swag t-shirts will be yellow this year...or is the website always yellow?
If the t-shirt is yellow this year I'll be happy because it's a great visibility color for biking.
Do you know what color the shirts are this year?

There's a pic of the shirt over here:

I kinda like it. The orange one from last year ended up as a grease rag, but that was also partially because the cotton was scratchy. (Yes, I'm a delicate effing flower, whatevs.)

Thanks huskerdont. So it's gray/grey with yellow print. Ugly. Ok. Yes last year's construction worker orange tshirt was ugly too. Scratchy cotton. My favorite so far was the 2013 turquoise :)
I'm a delicate flower too.

Pshaw! I actually like the charcoal grey they will be using (it's my 2nd favorite color after royal purple and before turquoise, both of which go well with charcoal grey). The yellow is okay, but I figure it's necessary because it'd be boring if it were white and unreadable/obnoxious with any other color. At the very least, it brings variety to the BTWD shirt collection.

I really like charcoal grey as well (burgundy prolly at the top). This disturbs me that we agree on this. I mean, you are a self-avowed steel hater.:p

Is it a bad thing if you bike to work Every Day and did not sign up for a T shirt?
I like this years shirt but I liked last years too.

Even if every day is Bike to Work Day for you, it's important to register for your local pit stop. Registration numbers are used to support the growing need for improved bicycle infrastructure. By signing up, you're telling the world that biking matters! (plus there's free snacks and stuff)

So we should pretty much register early ~ register often ~ like voting for the ALL STAR game - register for as many as possible??
Is it a bad thing if you bike to work Every Day and did not sign up for a T shirt? I usta feel that way but have now come around. It's a celebration of biking to work. Besides, the two Boat to Work Day T-shirts I picked up as extras last year are going to make fine chain cleaning rags in a few months.

Is it a bad thing if I signed up late? Will I still get a shirt?? My collection is looking for it's #11. I figure if I can get 50 shirts in a row, I'll win a prize, right?

I'm ahead of you. 2016 will be #15 for me; 35 to go. Come to Ballston if you want to see the entire collection (plus a 2000 BTWD water bottle).

Funny you should suggest Ballston. I just planned the route. Approximately this: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/fullscreen/1081997084/ Now we'll see how early I get up, and how far the reality varies from the plan.

You should look into making a quilt out of them!

Steve O is in luck. He happens to be related to a semi-professional quilt maker.

The shirt seems nice. It felt soft. Unfortunately, right when the woman was going to give it to me, some officious person came over and said they weren't open for 15 minutes. It was 6:20 and I had to get to work, so I didn't get one. I was almost annoyed, but I don't really need a shirt, and when I went to La Colombe later, the guy gave me a free bag of coffee, and I do need coffee.
Not sure I'll bother to sign up in future years though. I bike to work every day and am counted by the counters, so there's no point to signing up when I go by Rosslyn before they're open.

This year's shirt does seem like a step up from past years, cotton/poly blend rather than 100% cotton. Which addresses the one odd thing about the btwd shirts--I rarely wear them to actually bike because they get wet and stay wet.

Sorry - your experience seems needlessly... dumb. But signing up does help the general BTWD numbers.

Yes, that stop was open from 6:30 to 9:00. I think the volunteers were still being given instructions when you rolled by. Next year, come early and you can help set up the stop!
You should sign up in the future so that you are counted regionally. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (which is the group that puts on the event doesn't necessarily look at Arlington counter numbers) in the way that Arlington does.
If you still want a shirt, you can stop by New District this afternoon to get one, or come by the BikeArlington offices in Rosslyn. They are plush.

Update: There are no Smalls at FreshBikes. I checked. Apparently they were gone in three minutes.
What you'll find there is a pile of Extra Larges... five of them. That was also the issue at Rosslyn this morning... a preponderance of larger sizes. (Perhaps Tim Kelley did the T-shirt ordering. :) If I ordered the shirts we'd all be wearing Child Mediums.)
I picked up an enormous Adult Medium this a.m., but my young fashion police would flip if I actually wore it...
A wonderful BTWD nonetheless!

Just take it in a little at the waist and you'll have your B2WD mini-dress.

Interesting, those all went since I left the pile there around 11am--they must have taken all the XLs too. (Btw, t-shirts are ordered regionally by MWCOG)
If you can make it down to my office in Rosslyn before we go to New District, we can probably fine one this afternoon. Otherwise, check out New District this afternoon.

I should say thanks. Sick dog has to go to the vet this afternoon, so as much as I love New District and beer in general, I'll have to give it a miss. No biggie anyway. I'll drink a beer later, and I have enough shirts not to go nekked.
At least leaving early I'll miss BTWD rush hour.

Creativity is all about hiding your sources.
Actually it had to do with taking a group picture - and the mass of dull grey t shirts just disappeared into the background. Quite literally. One guy in our group is in a shadow and I could not adjust the light to get him to show up.

I was very pleased to see the shirt this year is a nice, staid charcoal. I'm not flashy dresser, and the eye-melters of years past tend to sit in the back of the drawer.

A committee of pit stop organizers who meet at MWCOG choose the colors. WABA just runs the registration page.
